40 houses, 50 vehicles ready for new cabinet members

Authorities have readied 40 official residences and 50 vehicles for members of the new cabinet as the Bangladesh Nationalist Party prepares to assume office following its election victory.

Housing Ministry officials said residences in Bailey Road, Gulshan, Dhanmondi and Minto Road have been kept prepared, with renovations to be carried out where needed.

Transport Commissioner (Additional Secretary) Md Khairul Kabir Monon said arrangements are being made as per Cabinet Division instructions, and the final number of vehicles required will be confirmed on the day of the swearing-in.

In the February 12 election, the BNP won over 200 of the 299 contested seats with 49.97% of the vote, according to the Election Commission, while Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami emerged as the main opposition with 31.76% of the vote.
