400 police personnel receive BPM, PPM awards from PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has adorned a total of 400 members of Bangladesh Police with Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) and the President's Police Medal (PPM).

She handed over the medals among the cops on the first day of the Police Week-2024 at the Rajarbagh Police Lines in the capital on Tuesday.

Of the 400 policemen, 35 have been selected to be awarded BPM Bravery, which is the highest prestigious medal, while 60 were given the PPM Bravery medal, the second highest prestigious one.

A total of 95 policemen were awarded with BPM Service and 210 with PPM Service.

Besides, nine police personnel have given award posthumously.

Last year, 117 cops were awarded the BPM and PPM while the number was 115 in 2022, 115 in 2021, 118 in 2020, 349 in 2019, 182 in 2018, 132 in 2017, 115 in 2016, 86 in 2015 and 105 in 2014.

During the Police Week in 2019, which was held after the 2018 general election, the number of awardees was double that of the previous year.
