409 engineers transferred through lottery

To curb lobbying and political influence regarding transfers, 409 engineers of the Public Works Department have been transferred through a lottery system. The transfer process took place at the conference room of the Public Works Building in Segunbagicha on Sunday.

Among those transferred are 152 Assistant Engineers (Civil), 67 Assistant Engineers (E/M), 135 Sub-Divisional Engineers (Civil), and 55 Sub-Divisional Engineers (E/M). Their new workplaces were determined via lottery in the presence of the concerned officials.

The Public Works Department stated that this method has been introduced to ensure transparency in the transfer process. Previously, 767 Sub-Assistant Engineers (Civil) on July 30 and another 254 Sub-Assistant Engineers (E/M) on August 3 were transferred using the same lottery method.

The event was attended by senior officials, including Public Works Department Additional Chief Engineers Md. Abul Khair, Ashraful Haque, Kazi Md. Firoz Hasan, and Ministry of Housing and Public Works Additional Secretary Md. Sarwar Alam.
