45th BCS gazette clears 1,702 candidates for appointments
The recruitment process for the 45th BCS (Bangladesh Civil Service), which ran for nearly four years, has finally come to an end. The Ministry of Public Administration has published the final gazette appointing 1,702 candidates to various cadres.
The notification was issued on Wednesday night (October 14). It said those appointed must report by November 1 to the designated offices of the ministries or divisions that control their respective cadres. Anyone who fails to join within the deadline will be considered unwilling to accept the appointment.
The circular for the 45th BCS was published on November 30, 2022. Around 346,000 people applied in response. The preliminary examination was held on May 19, 2023. In the written examination, held from January 23 to 31, 2024, 6,558 candidates passed.
After the written examination, oral examinations were held in several phases beginning in July 2025. Following this, in late November of that year, the Public Service Commission (PSC) made a final recommendation to appoint 1,807 candidates to various cadres.
The appointment gazette has now come about 11 months after the recommendation. During this time, after verification and medical tests, 1,702 of those recommended have made it into the gazette, which is 105 fewer.
Previously, after the final results of the 40th BCS were published, it took 216 days for the appointment gazette to be issued. Compared with that, the wait this time has been far longer, which had led to frustration and anger among candidates.
According to the notification, those appointed will receive a monthly salary of Tk 44,000 to Tk 105,900 in Grade 9 under the National Pay Scale 2026.
