46 Bangladeshi pilgrims die during hajj, over 29,000 return home
A total of 46 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died while performing Hajj this year, while 29,694 pilgrims have so far returned home from Saudi Arabia, according to the latest Hajj bulletin issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The bulletin said the repatriation process is ongoing and will continue until June 30.
Of the deceased, 35 died in Makkah and 11 in Madinah. The fatalities include 30 men and 16 women.
So far, 3,328 pilgrims have returned under government management, while 26,366 returned under private arrangements.
Among airlines facilitating the return, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has brought back 9,981 pilgrims, Saudi Airlines 11,331, Flynas 7,700, and other carriers 682.
The ministry said medical services provided by the Bangladesh Hajj Mission in Saudi Arabia remain active. A total of 56,312 prescriptions have been issued so far, while 25,710 services were delivered through IT helplines.
Additionally, 262 pilgrims received treatment at various hospitals, with 24 currently admitted and undergoing care.
Authorities said the scheduled return operations will continue until June 30, after which the Hajj repatriation process will be completed.
Officials reiterated that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe, orderly, and smooth return of all pilgrims to Bangladesh.
