471 candidates in DUCSU election race
A total of 471 candidates will contest the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections. The final list released on Tuesday (August 26) showed that 28 candidates who initially submitted their nominations have voluntarily withdrawn. In addition, 10 candidates who were eliminated in the selection process have had their nomination papers declared invalid due to failure to appeal.
According to the final list, 45 aspirants will contest for the post of Vice President (VP), 19 for the post of General Secretary (GS) and 25 for the post of Assistant General Secretary (AGS). The number of candidates competing for other posts is: Liberation War and Democratic Movement Secretary 17, Common Room, Reading Room and Cafeteria Secretary 11, International Secretary 14, Literature and Cultural Secretary 19, Science and Technology Secretary 12.
In addition, 9 people will compete for the posts of Research and Publication Secretary, 13 for Sports Secretary, 12 for Student Transport Secretary, 17 for Social Services Secretary, 15 for Health and Environment Secretary, 11 for Human Rights and Legal Affairs Secretary, and 15 for Career Development Secretary.
A total of 217 candidates will contest for the member posts. A total of 471 candidates are going to compete for 28 posts this time.
