49 reserved women MPs to take oath on Sunday

The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected members of parliament (MPs) from the 49 reserved women's seats of the 13th National Parliament will be held tomorrow, Sunday (May 3).

The National Parliament Secretariat announced this information in a press release on Saturday (May 2). It said that the oath-taking ceremony will be held at 9 pm in the oath-taking room located on Level-1 of the East Block of the National Parliament Building.

Earlier, the Election Commission declared the 49 candidates from the reserved women's seats of the 13th National Parliament as winners on April 29. Their names were officially announced by publishing the gazette the next evening.

According to the gazette, 36 of these 49 seats have been elected from the BNP. In addition, there are 12 from 11 party alliances and one independent candidate.

The oath-taking ceremony will complete the process of assuming office of the new MPs from the reserved women's seats, which will ensure the formal inclusion of the new members in the activities of the National Parliament.
