5 High Court employees dismissed, increment of one official suspended

Five employees of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court have been dismissed from service after allegations of workplace misconduct and negligence of duty were proven.

In the same incident, the salary increment of another official has been suspended for a specified period.

Supreme Court sources confirmed the matter on Wednesday (12 August).

According to the sources, departmental inquiries were conducted against the accused employees under the Supreme Court’s service rules and disciplinary regulations.

As the allegations of misconduct and negligence of duty were found to be substantiated, disciplinary action was taken against them in accordance with the rules.

Supreme Court administration sources said the five dismissed employees have been relieved of their regular official duties in the High Court Division. Their employment has been terminated permanently.

Meanwhile, an official accused in a similar disciplinary matter has been given a comparatively lighter punishment, with his salary increment suspended for a specified period.

The Supreme Court administration said maintaining the dignity of the judiciary and ensuring transparency, accountability and discipline in official activities are being given the highest priority.

No leniency will be shown in cases of negligence of duty or violations of disciplinary rules in the workplace.

The administration further said strict administrative action would be taken in accordance with the existing rules and regulations against anyone found violating the rules in the future.
