At least five children have died from measles and related symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,358 new suspected cases have been reported during the same period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The data was released on Monday (April 27) in a routine health bulletin issued by the health authorities.

According to the report, four children died in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna and Sylhet divisions—one in each region—while an additional measles-confirmed death was recorded in Sylhet.

During the same 24-hour period, 90 new confirmed measles cases were identified nationwide, bringing the number of confirmed infections significantly higher alongside a surge in suspected cases.

Since March 15, a total of 33,386 children have shown measles-related symptoms, while 4,693 cases have been laboratory-confirmed, the DGHS said.

The bulletin also stated that 22,442 children have been hospitalised over the same period, with 19,018 recovering and being discharged after treatment.
