5 more deaths reported with measles symptoms
At least five more people have died in the past 24 hours due to measles and suspected measles-related complications, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In a press release issued from the health control room, officials said that three deaths were confirmed as measles-related, while two others were classified as suspected cases on Friday (April 17).
The statement added that 1,115 suspected measles cases were reported in the last 24 hours. Between March 15 and April 17, the total number of suspected cases has reached 21,467.
During the same 24-hour period, 127 confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total confirmed cases to 3,192 between March 15 and April 17.
Authorities also said that 13,898 suspected patients were admitted to hospitals during this period, while 11,243 people have recovered and been discharged.
The DGHS further reported that three people died from confirmed measles in the last 24 hours. From March 15 to April 17, confirmed measles deaths have reached 37.
In addition, two more deaths were reported as suspected measles cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected deaths to 174 during the same period.
