5 more die of dengue
The dengue situation in the country has further deteriorated. Five more people have died of dengue fever in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of dengue deaths this year has increased to 18. Of these, 13 people lost their lives in June alone, which is the highest monthly death toll this year.
This information was given in the latest dengue notification issued by the Directorate General of Health Services on Monday (June 29).
The notification said that out of the five people who died in the last 24 hours, two are from Chattogram division, one from Dhaka North City Corporation area, one from Dhaka South City Corporation area and one from Mymensingh division.
At the same time, 124 people have been newly admitted to various hospitals in the country due to dengue. As a result, the number of dengue patients admitted to hospitals so far this year has increased to 5,924.
Meanwhile, 100 people have recovered and left the hospital in the last 24 hours. In total, 5,455 people have returned home after recovering from dengue this year.
According to the Health Department, two people died of dengue in January this year, two in February and one in May. However, the situation deteriorated significantly in June. The highest number of deaths was recorded in this month alone, with 13 people.
As dengue infections continue to increase, the Health Department has urged people to intensify cleanliness activities to destroy mosquito breeding grounds and seek medical attention immediately if they experience fever or dengue symptoms.
