50-hour discussion on President's address in parliament decided
The first session of the 13th National Parliament will continue until April 30. A total of 50 hours of discussion will be held on the President's address in this session.
The decision was made at the first meeting of the Business Advisory Committee in the Cabinet Room of the National Parliament Building on Saturday, March 14. This information was provided in a press release sent by the Parliament Secretariat.
The meeting was presided over by Business Advisory Committee President and Speaker of the National Parliament Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. Committee member, Leader of the House and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman participated in the meeting.
Also participating in the meeting were committee members Leader of the Opposition Md Shafiqur Rahman, Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Chief Whip Md Nurul Islam, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, A T M Azharul Islam, Opposition Chief Whip Md Nahid Islam and Muhammad Nawshad Jamir. Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament Barrister Kayser Kamal participated in the meeting on the Speaker's special invitation.
The meeting discussed time allocation for disposing of the business of the first session of the 13th National Parliament and the duration of the session. The decision was taken to hold a total of 50 hours of discussion on the President's address.
Parliament sessions will begin daily at 3:00 pm except on government holidays. The Speaker has been given the authority to change any matter related to session times and working days if necessary.
A total of 468 questions have been received for this session, including eight for the Prime Minister and 460 for other ministers. Twenty-seven notices have been received under Rule 71 (motions for attention), and 97 notices have been received under Rule 131 (resolutions).
Parliament Secretariat Secretary Kaniz Mowla provided secretarial support at the meeting. Senior officials of the Parliament Secretariat were present at the meeting.
