Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir has said 59 lakh beneficiaries have been removed from the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB). He also said the TCB subsidy will be brought down to zero within the next four to five years. The Commerce Minister made these remarks at the inauguration ceremony of TCB product sales at Karwan Bazar in the capital on Thursday morning, September 17. He further said a disparity is noticeable in supply and the supply chain. Due to this, there is still no stability in the market. He said the programme TCB is running through subsidies will be beneficial for the country's people. The Commerce Minister said converting TCB cards to digital will save Tk 300 to 350 crore.

৫৯ লাখ সুবিধাভোগীকে টিসিবি থেকে বাদ দেয়া হয়েছে বলে জানিয়ে বাণিজ্যমন্ত্রী খন্দকার আব্দুল মুক্তাদির। তিনি আরও জানান, আগামী ৪-৫ বছরের মধ্যে টিসিবির ভর্তুকি শূন্যে নামিয়ে আনা হবে। বৃহস্পতিবার (১৭ সেপ্টেম্বর) সকালে রাজধানীর কারওয়ান বাজারে টিসিবি পণ্য বিক্রি কার্যক্রমের উদ্বোধন অনুষ্ঠানে এসব কথা বলেন বাণিজ্যমন্ত্রী। তিনি আরও বলেন, সরবরাহ ও সাপ্লাই চেইনের মধ্য একটা বৈষম্য লক্ষ্য করা যায়। যে কারণে বাজারে এখনো স্থিতিশীলতা নেই। ভর্তুকির মাধ্যমে টিসিবি যে কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করছে তা দেশের মানুষের জন্য উপকারী হবে। বাণিজ্যমন্ত্রী জানান, টিসিবির কার্ড ডিজিটালে রূপান্তর করার ফলে ৩০০ থেকে সাড়ে ৩০০ কোটি টাকা সাশ্রয় হবে।
