5-member election commission formed for JUCSU elections

The administration of Jahangirnagar University has formed a five-member Election Commission to conduct the upcoming Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) elections. The announcement came through an office order signed by Professor Kamrul Ahsan, university's Vice Chancellor and JUCSU President, on Tuesday (December 31).

According to the order, issued under section 8(6) of the JUCSU constitution, Professor Moniruzzaman of the English Department has been appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner, while Proctor Professor AKM Rashidul Alam will serve as the Member-Secretary.

The commission also includes Professor Mafruhi Sattar, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences; Professor Lutful Elahi, Provost of Tajuddin Ahmad Hall; and Professor Rezwana Karim Snigdha, Provost of Begum Sufia Kamal Hall.

The office order also states that the Election Commission is authorized to appoint university teachers, officers, or staff members as needed to assist in conducting the election.

The university's initiative has sparked significant interest among students, with positive discussions about the JUCSU election gaining momentum across the campus.
