6 arrested over Lt Tanzim murder

Six people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Lieutenant Tanzim Sarwar Nirjan (23) at Chakaria upazila in Cox's Bazar.

The army conducted a combing operation in the upazila and arrested them, said a press release on Wednesday (September 25) afternoon.

The arrestees are - Md Babul Prakash (44), Md Helal Uddin (34), Md Anwar Hakim (28), Md Arif Ullah (25), Md Ziabul Karim (45) and Md Hussain (39).

According to the army, two domestic firearms, 11 rounds of different types of bullets, a knife used in the murder, a pickup and a motorcycle were recovered from the possession of the arrestees.

During primary interrogation, the accused confessed to killing Lt Tanjim by stabbing.

Among the arrestees, four were directly involved in committing the crime and the remaining two assisted providing information. Among these, Md Babul Prakash is the main financier of this incident.

After the arrest, the accused have been handed over to the Chakaria Police Station and the army personnel are preparing to file a case with Chakaria Police Station as the plaintiff.
