6 die from measles, measles-like symptoms, total deaths 317

Six more children have died of measles and measles symptoms in the country in the last 24 hours. Of these, measles infection was confirmed in two children, while the remaining four died of complications related to symptoms.

This information was given in the measles report of the Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday (May 5).

The latest report of the Directorate General of Health Services said that these deaths occurred from 8am on Monday to 8am on Tuesday.

During this period, measles symptoms have been detected in 1,186 new children.

Among the dead, two children died in Dhaka, one each in Khulna and Rajshahi, and two more children in Sylhet.

With this, the total number of children who died this year has increased to 317.

Since March 15 of this year, about 42,979 children have shown symptoms of measles in the country. Of these, 29,831 children were admitted to the hospital, of which 26,368 have recovered and returned home.

In addition, the Department of Health has confirmed that 5,726 children have been infected with measles so far.

Experts say that the situation could become more complicated if vaccination activities and awareness are not increased quickly. Initiatives have already been taken to strengthen vaccination activities in different areas of the country.
