6 more children die of measles symptoms, total death 588
The measles outbreak in the country is still at a worrying level. According to the latest information from the Directorate General of Health Services, 6 more children have died of measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. This information was given in the regular measles report of the Directorate General of Health Services published on Tuesday (June 2).
The report said that these deaths occurred between 8am on Monday and 8am on Tuesday. The Directorate General of Health Services had also reported the death of 3 children due to measles symptoms in the previous 24 hours. During the same period, 1,179 children were newly infected. The report mentioned that children from Sunamganj, Kushtia and Mymensingh districts are among the recent deaths.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, 498 children have died of measles symptoms in the country since March 15 of this year. In addition, 90 more children have died after being diagnosed with measles in the test. In total, a total of 588 children have died so far due to measles symptoms and confirmed measles, which has become a cause of deep concern in the public health sector.
Statistics show that since March 15, 72,070 children have shown symptoms of measles. Of them, 57,902 have been hospitalized. 53,722 children have recovered and returned home after treatment. 9,094 children have been diagnosed with measles during the same period.
Health experts say that measles is a highly contagious viral disease. Children who are not vaccinated on time are at higher risk of infection. They have urged parents to bring their children under the regular vaccination program and to seek medical attention immediately if they develop symptoms such as fever, rash, cough or red eyes.
