6 suspects put on for 7-day remand over Mohammadpur robbery

Six individuals arrested in connection with a robbery in Dhaka's Mohammadpur, where the perpetrators dressed in army and RAB uniforms, have been placed on a 7-day remand by the court.

The remanded suspects are Zakir Hossain alias Jin Zakir, 36, Md. Shariful Islam Tushar, 34, Md. Masudur Rahman, 42, Md. Ariful Islam Torofdar, 30, Md. Zahid Hasan, 35 and Abdus Salam, 50.

On Monday, a Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate issued the remand order.

Earlier, the investigating officer of the case, DB Police SI Rashedul Islam, sought a 10-day remand for the suspects.

Multiple defence lawyers argued for the suspects innocence and appealed to cancel the remand.

However, Metropolitan Magistrate Mosharraf Hossain approved the remand.

The six suspects, directly involved in the robbery that occurred late at night on October 12 in Mohammadpur, were arrested from various parts of the capital on Sunday.

During the arrest, Tk.2,20,000 in cash, around four tolas (approximately 46 grams) of gold jewellery, and two iPhones were recovered from them.
