611 candidates appointed to education cadre through 49th BCS
The government has appointed 611 candidates to entry-level posts in the Bangladesh Civil Service (General Education) cadre through the 49th BCS Special Examination 2025.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification on Wednesday (September 30), based on the Bangladesh Public Service Commission’s recommendation dated November 27, 2025.
The appointments will take effect under the pay scale and conditions prescribed by the National Pay Scale 2026.
The PSC had initially provisionally selected 668 candidates for appointment through the special BCS examination. However, the final gazette contains the names of 611 candidates, leaving 57 of the provisionally selected candidates out.
However, the notification did not specify why their names were excluded.
The appointees must undergo basic training at the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre or another government-designated institution, followed by professional and specialised training as required by their respective workplaces.
They will serve a two-year probationary period, which may be extended by another two years if necessary. Their services will be considered for permanent appointment after they successfully complete the required training, pass the departmental examination and satisfactorily complete the probationary period.
Under the appointment conditions, the recruits must submit declarations of movable and immovable assets owned or possessed by themselves and their family members. They will also be required to submit updated statements of changes in asset values every five years.
The appointees have been instructed to join the office designated by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education by October 12. Failure to join within the stipulated deadline will be treated as unwillingness to accept the appointment, resulting in cancellation of the appointment.
