7 more children die with measles symptoms in 24 hours

Seven more children have died from measles or measles-like symptoms in the country over the past 24 hours. Among them, two children died from confirmed measles and five from measles-like symptoms. During the same period, 729 children were admitted to hospitals across the country with measles symptoms, and 82 new cases were confirmed.

This information came from the latest report of the Directorate General of Health Services on Monday, April 13. The data covers the period from 8:00 am on April 12 to 8:00 am on April 13.

According to the health directorate, a total of 30 children have died from confirmed measles since March 15. Additionally, 156 children have died from measles-like symptoms during this period.

Among the 17,024 children who have presented with measles symptoms, 10,954 have been hospitalised. Of them, 2,721 have been confirmed with measles, and 8,369 have recovered and returned home.

Of the two children who died from confirmed measles in the last 24 hours, both were from Dhaka division. Among the five children who died from measles-like symptoms, four were from Dhaka division and one from Rajshahi division. During this period, the highest number of confirmed measles cases, 76, were detected in Dhaka division, four in Rajshahi division, and two in Chattogram division. No confirmed cases were reported in the remaining divisions.
