7 more children die with measles symptoms in 24 hours
Seven more children have died from confirmed measles and suspected measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, according to a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services on Friday, May 8.
One child died from confirmed measles in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed measles deaths since March 15 to 58. Six children died from suspected measles in the same period, raising the total suspected measles deaths since March 15 to 285.
The press release also reported 1,212 new suspected measles cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected cases since March 15 to 46,710. A total of 282 new confirmed measles cases were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed cases since March 15 to 6,490.
Since March 15, a total of 32,862 children have been hospitalised with suspected measles symptoms. During the same period, 29,152 children have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
