7 more deaths with measles symptoms, total fatalities 1019

The number of deaths in the measles outbreak in the country continues to rise. Seven more people have died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. However, no information of anyone dying from confirmed measles infection was received during this period.

This information was informed in the measles-related bulletin published by the Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday (September 12). The bulletin has presented the situation of 24 hours from 8am on Friday to 8am on Saturday.

According to the information of the Directorate General of Health Services, a total of 1,019 people have died from measles infection and with measles symptoms from April 10 till now. Of these, 919 people have died with measles symptoms and 100 people have died from confirmed measles infection.

In the last 24 hours measles symptoms have appeared in the bodies of 816 new people across the country. With this, measles symptoms have appeared in the bodies of a total of 170,638 people in the country from April 10 till now.

In the same period confirmed measles has been identified in the bodies of 39 new people. As a result the number of patients with confirmed measles identification in the country from April 10 till now has stood at 20,006.

In terms of deaths with measles symptoms the highest number of deaths has occurred in Dhaka division. 413 people have died in this division so far. After that 157 people in Sylhet division, 93 in Rajshahi division, 77 in Mymensingh, 69 in Chattogram, 57 in Barisal, 39 in Khulna and 14 people in Rangpur division have died.

According to these information of the Directorate General of Health Services, although the number of deaths with measles symptoms in the country has crossed one thousand, new cases of infection and deaths are still continuing.
