7 more die of dengue in 24 hours, 1,593 hospitalised

The dengue outbreak continues to worsen across the country. Seven more people have died of the mosquito-borne disease in the last 24 hours. During the same period, 1,593 people were hospitalised with dengue in various hospitals across the country.

The information was provided in a dengue-related press release sent from the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday, September 15.

According to DGHS data, among those hospitalised in the last 24 hours, 159 were in Barishal division, 165 in Chattogram division and 383 in Dhaka division (outside city corporations). Additionally, 171 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka North City Corporation and 132 in Dhaka South City Corporation.

On the other hand, 290 people were hospitalised with dengue in Khulna division, 82 in Mymensingh division, 137 in Rajshahi division, 65 in Rangpur division and nine in Sylhet division.

With seven new deaths, the number of dengue fatalities this year has risen to 164. During the same period, a total of 55,163 patients have been hospitalised with dengue in various hospitals across the country this year.

According to DGHS data, the number of patients hospitalised with dengue in various regions of the country continues to rise. To control the situation, those concerned are emphasising destroying mosquito breeding grounds and seeking a doctor's advice quickly if dengue symptoms appear.
