Seventy percent of people want to vote for the BNP in the 13th national parliamentary election, according to a survey by Eminence Associates for Social Development, EASD. Jamaat-e-Islami received support from 19 percent of respondents, while 2.6 percent favoured the NCP and five percent other parties. Only 0.2 percent said they would not vote.

The findings were presented on Monday, January 5, at the KIB auditorium in Farmgate, Dhaka, by EASD chief executive officer Shamim Haider Talukder.

He said opinions were collected in person from 20,495 respondents across all 300 parliamentary constituencies between December 20 and January 1.

In response to questions on which party would form the government, 77 percent believed the BNP would win, while 17 percent said Jamaat-e-Islami. More than one percent thought the NCP would form the government.

Asked who would win the next election, 74 percent said BNP, 18 percent Jamaat-e-Islami and 1.7 percent NCP, while just over one percent believed the Jatiya Party would win.
