A total of 73 officers at the top levels of the Bangladesh Police have been promoted to the rank of deputy inspector general (DIG). Mahbubur Rahman Sheikh, deputy secretary of home ministry, signed seperate notifications by the order of the president on Sunday. According to the notifications, the officers have been promoted as supernumerary. The order will take effect immediately, said the notification.

বাংলাদেশ পুলিশের ৭৩ কর্মকর্তা সুপারনিউমারারি উপপুলিশ মহাপরিদর্শক (ডিআইজি) পদে পদোন্নতি পেয়েছেন। রাষ্ট্রপতির আদেশক্রমে স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের জননিরাপত্তা বিভাগের পুলিশ-১ শাখার উপসচিব মো. মাহাবুর রহমান শেখ স্বাক্ষরিত পৃথক প্রজ্ঞাপনে এ পদোন্নতির কথা জানানো হয়। এতে বলা হয়, জনস্বার্থে জারি করা এ আদেশ যোগ দেওয়ার তারিখ থেকে কার্যকর হবে।
