76 OSD police officers appointed to key ranks
In a significant reshuffle within the Bangladesh Police, 76 officers who were previously serving as Officers on Special Duty (OSD) have been appointed to active positions, including Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Additional DIG, and Superintendent of Police (SP) ranks.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued the appointments through an official notification signed by Md Mahbubur Rahman, deputy secretary of the Police-1 Branch, on Wednesday (August 6). The order was issued by the direction of the President.
This development follows an earlier move on February 25, when 82 senior officers—including one Additional Inspector General of Police (Addl. IGP), 13 DIGs, over 50 Additional DIGs, and 15 SPs—were made OSDs through three separate notifications.
The newly appointed officers have been assigned to various key positions, including attachments to DIG offices, Sardah in Rajshahi, and the Police Training Centre (PTC), signaling a broader administrative shake-up in the force.
