A total of 797 flights have been cancelled at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport over the past 28 days due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, airport authorities said on Friday (March 27).

The cancellations were triggered by the closure of airspace over several countries, including Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan.

From 28 February to 27 March, an average of flights were disrupted daily, with 22 flights cancelled on Friday alone.

Friday’s cancellations included four flights of Kuwait Airways, six of Air Arabia (Sharjah), two of Gulf Air (Bahrain), four of Qatar Airways, two of Emirates, and four of Jazeera Airways.

Despite the disruptions, limited flights to Middle Eastern destinations have continued.

Authorities said a total of 1,058 flights were scheduled or operated during the period, with services maintained to Oman, Saudi Arabia, and parts of the UAE.

For 27 March, a total of 43 flights are scheduled, including six to Muscat, 17 to Saudi Arabia, and 20 to the UAE—comprising 12 to Dubai, four to Abu Dhabi, and four to Sharjah.
