7-day Eid holiday begins tomorrow
Today, Monday, March 16, is the last working day for government and private offices ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. A seven-day Eid holiday begins tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17.
Subject to the sighting of the moon, the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated in the country on March 20 or 21.
According to the government holiday list, there is a public holiday on March 17 for the holy Shab-e-Qadr. Following that, a five-day holiday from March 19 to 23 was already scheduled for Eid.
Although offices were initially set to remain open on Wednesday, March 18, demands were raised to declare a holiday on that day as well to facilitate the journey of people heading home.
In response, the cabinet meeting approved the proposal to declare a holiday on March 18. Later, on March 8, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification declaring March 18 a holiday by executive order. As a result, government employees are now getting a seven-day holiday from March 17 to 23.
After this holiday, government offices, courts, banks, insurance companies and other government, private and autonomous institutions will reopen on March 24. However, after working for one day on March 25, there will be another public holiday on March 26 for Independence Day.
Meanwhile, those who can take additional leave on March 24 and 25 will have the opportunity to enjoy a long break of nearly 12 days from March 17 to 28.
