7-member committee formed to review judges' pay, allowances report

The government has formed a seven-member committee to review the report of the 'Bangladesh Judicial Service Pay Commission, 2025' and formulate necessary recommendations. The commission had submitted its report after reviewing the salaries, allowances and other benefits of judges.

A notification in this regard was issued by the Cabinet Division on August 4.

The Finance and Planning Minister has been made the head of the committee. Other members include the Home Minister; the Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources; the Minister for Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare; the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs; the Adviser to the Ministry of Finance and Planning; and the State Minister for Public Administration and Food.

The committee's terms of reference state that it will review the report of the 'Bangladesh Judicial Service Pay Commission, 2025' and formulate necessary recommendations.

The committee may also co-opt members if necessary. Meetings of the committee will be held as required. The notification also stated that the Finance Division will provide secretarial support to the committee.

The Bangladesh Judicial Service Pay Commission was reconstituted on September 8, 2025. The commission, headed by Appellate Division Justice S M Emdadul Haque, reviewed the salaries, allowances and other benefits of judges and submitted its report to the President on February 5 this year.
