At least eight students of Dhaka University (DU) sustained injuries after their bus was involved in an accident in Karwan Bazar area this morning (April 15).

The crash took place around 8:30am when the university’s BRTC double-decker bus was coming down from the Karwan Bazar expressway ramp near BFDC.

DU Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed confirmed the matter, stating that the injured students took treatment at different hospitals.

However, the identities of the injured could not be confirmed immediately.

Mahmudur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station, said the driver lost control of the bus while descending the ramp in front of the FDC area. The vehicle then hit two microbuses, two private cars and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.

The DU bus named Khonika, which was coming from Tongi, was also damaged during the incident.

Police rushed to the spot and began clearing the damaged vehicles to ease traffic in the busy intersection, the OC added.
