8 more dengue deaths in 24 hrs, record 1,733 hospitalised

The dengue situation in the country continues to deteriorate. Eight more people have died from dengue in the last 24 hours. At the same time, 1,733 patients were hospitalised.

The information was provided in the regular dengue-related bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services' Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room on Monday, September 14. With the new patients, the total number of dengue patients hospitalised this year has reached 53,570.

According to DGHS data, in the last 24 hours, 191 people were hospitalised in Barishal division, 191 in Chattogram division, 388 in areas outside city corporations in Dhaka division, 170 in Dhaka North City Corporation and 143 in Dhaka South City Corporation.

Additionally, 302 new patients were hospitalised in Khulna division, 110 in Mymensingh division, 145 in Rajshahi division, 86 in Rangpur division and seven in Sylhet division.

With the eight new deaths, the total number of dengue fatalities this year has risen to 157. Meanwhile, a portion of those hospitalised have recovered and returned home after treatment.

As dengue infections continue to rise, authorities are emphasising ensuring prompt treatment for patients, as well as taking effective measures to destroy Aedes mosquito breeding grounds and control mosquitoes.
