8 more die of dengue in 24 hours

Eight more people have died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours. During the same period, 1,782 people were newly infected with dengue and admitted to hospital.

The information was provided in the regular dengue bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services on Thursday.

According to DGHS calculations, a total of 209 people have died of dengue so far this year. Among them, 43 died in August and 112 in the first 23 days of September. Additionally, 36 died in July, 13 in June, one in May and two each in January and February.

The bulletin stated that 1,782 dengue patients were admitted to various hospitals across the country in the 24 hours from 8am on Wednesday. With this, the total number of dengue patients admitted to hospital this year has risen to 69,149.

During the same period, 1,757 people recovered and returned home from hospital. So far, a total of 63,874 have been discharged after recovery.

In the last 24 hours, the highest number of dengue patients, 716, were admitted in Dhaka division. Additionally, 288 were admitted in Chattogram division, 286 in Khulna, 164 in Barishal, 130 in Rajshahi, 108 in Mymensingh, 73 in Rangpur and 17 in Sylhet.
