9 districts to experience rain, river ports asked to hoist warning signal 1
Gusty or squally winds of 45-60 kmph, accompanied by rain or thundershowers, may sweep over nine districts of the country. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has asked river ports in these areas to hoist local cautionary signal No 1.
The Met Office's Storm Warning Centre provided the information in its forecast for inland river ports for Tuesday, August 25, from 5am to 1pm.
According to the forecast, temporary gusty winds of 45-60 kmph from the south or southeast direction may sweep over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet regions, accompanied by rain or thundershowers. In the interest of overall safety, river ports in these regions have been advised to hoist cautionary signal No 1.
The Met Office further said light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur in various parts of the country. The possibility of rain is particularly high in many areas of Rangpur, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and in some areas of Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Barishal divisions. Additionally, moderately heavy rainfall may occur in some parts of the country.
Daytime temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged, while night temperatures may drop slightly.
