925MW from Adani added to national grid, load-shedding expected to ease: BPDB
The second unit of the Adani power plant was synchronised with the national grid at 7:47 pm on Monday, April 27, according to the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).
Currently, approximately 925 megawatts of electricity are being supplied from this unit.
BPDB Chairman Engineer Md Rezaul Karim said the power supply will be increased gradually. This additional generation will strengthen the overall power system and play a supportive role in reducing load-shedding across the country.
Meanwhile, according to officials, an additional 600 megawatts each from SSPower and RNPL are expected to be added to the national grid from April 28.
RNPL is a joint venture between the Rural Power Company Limited and China's state-owned enterprise Norinco. The company will begin generating 600 megawatts of electricity from April 28.
According to BPDB data, the peak electricity demand in the country on Saturday evening was 16,900 megawatts. Without electricity from the Adani plant, the maximum generation was 14,712 megawatts, which was considerably lower than demand.
