972 flights cancelled from Shahjalal airport due to Middle East crisis
A total of 972 flights have been cancelled from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport since February 28 due to the security situation in the Middle East.
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Assistant Director (Public Relations) Kawser Mahmud confirmed the information on Monday, April 6.
He said Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan temporarily closed their airspace due to the security situation in the Middle East. As a result, flight operations from Shahjalal International Airport have been disrupted and cancellations have continued since then.
According to CAAB data, 339 flights were cancelled from February 28 to March 9. Another 275 flights were cancelled from March 10 to March 19, 226 from March 20 to March 29, and 132 more from March 30 to April 6.
