A dozen of publishing houses denied pavilions at book fair
More than a dozen publishing houses have been denied pavilions at the Amar Ekushey Book fair this year on charges of using political influence to gain additional benefits during the Awami League government.
Meanwhile, pavilions have been allotted for five new publishers this year.
The decision was made at a meeting of the book fair's management committee on Thursday (January 9), said Sayeed Bari, president of the Anti-Discrimination Creative Publishers Association and CEO of Shuchipatra Prokashoni.
He said the Bangla Academy has made this decision in view of the demands of a section of publishers.
The publishing houses that are not getting pavilions are Kakoli Prakashani, Pathak Samabesh, Tamralipi, Puthinilaya, Somoy, Mizan Publishers, Charulipi, Jinia Publication, Biswa Sahitya Bhaban, Nalanda, Pearl Publication and Shabdashoili.
