A letter fulfils a dream as PM gifts harmonium to young singer Anushree

The long-cherished dream of Anushree Roy, a young singer from Gangachara Upazila in Rangpur who won first place in the patriotic song category at the National Primary Education Award 2026, has come true.

Accompanied by her parents, Anushree met Prime Minister Tarek Rahman at the Secretariat on Thursday. During the meeting, the prime minister presented her with a harmonium as a gift.

The prime minister inquired about Anushree's musical journey and encouraged her to continue practicing regularly.

Responding to her request, he handed over the harmonium.

Anushree also performed a patriotic song for the prime minister, who praised her talent and encouraged her to pursue music in the future.

Anushree's journey began on July 15, during the National Primary Education Award 2026 ceremony at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center.

In a letter addressed to the prime minister, she wrote about her need for a harmonium to continue her music practice and expressed her wish to meet him.

After the letter reached the prime minister, Anushree and her family were invited to the Secretariat for a meeting.

Speaking after the meeting, an emotional Anushree said she had never imagined that the prime minister would read her letter or invite her to meet in person.

She explained that her family could not afford to buy a harmonium, which was why she had written about her dream. Receiving such a warm response from the prime minister was completely unexpected, she added.

Anushree's father said the entire family was delighted to see her dream come true.

He said he had often told his daughter about the prime minister's humanitarian initiatives, which inspired her to believe that writing a letter might bring a response. That belief, he said, has now become a reality.

On the same day, Tabiul Islam Rakib, a security guard working in the Kuril Bishwaroad area of Dhaka, also met the prime minister.

Expressing gratitude for fulfilling his long-held wish, Rakib requested the construction of a bridge over the Panguchi River in Morelganj Upazila of Bagerhat, highlighting the hardships faced by local residents due to the lack of a bridge.
