Abu Sayed Murder Case: ICT to hold 14th day of 30 witnesses testimony today

The International Crimes Tribunal-2 today (November 16) will hold the 14th day of witness testimony in Abu Sayed murder case, a student of Begum Rokeya University and the first martyr of the July 24th movement.

Today's witness hearings in the case involve former VC Hasibur Rashid and 29 other accused.

The testimony of the day will be presented before a three-member bench led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, Chairman of the International Crimes Tribunal-2. The other two members are Justice Manjurul Bashid (retd.) and District Judge Nur Mohammad Shahriar Kabir.

The session focused on completing the testimony of police constable Abu Bakar Siddique (16th witness), with a new witness also scheduled to appear. Previous testimonies included SI (Armed) Ashraful Islam, student Imran Ahmed, and July Movement leader Aqib Reza Khan.

Six accused—ASI Amir Hossain, former BUET proctor Shariful Islam, constable Sujon Chandra Roy, Chhatra League leader Imran Chowdhury, Rafiul Hasan Rasel, and Anwar Parvez—remain in custody and are attending the hearings. The remaining 24 accused, including the former VC, are absconding and represented by state-appointed lawyers.

The trial officially began on 27 August, with charges framed against all 30 accused on 6 August. A total of 62 witnesses are listed for the case.
