The trial in the murder case of Begum Rokeya University student Abu Sayed, killed during the July uprising in Rangpur, is expected to conclude by January, the prosecution said.

Speaking at a press briefing at the International Crimes Tribunal on Monday (November 10), Prosecutor Mizanul Islam said testimony of witness No. 12 has been completed against 30 accused, including former BRUR VC Hasibur Rashid. The remaining 30–35 confessions will conclude the evidence.

He added that while the verdict timing around elections cannot be predicted, the prosecution hopes the trial will finish by January. Previous delays were due to witness absence, illness, and investigators’ engagement in other cases.
