Abu Sayeed's family files complaint against 25 people with ICT
The family of Abu Sayeed, who was killed in Rangpur during the July mass uprising, has filed a complaint against 25 people with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Monday (January 13).
ICT Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam told reporters, “Abu Sayeed's family has filed a case in Rangpur. We have said before that no matter how many cases are filed with the local court, if any complaint is filed with the International Crimes Tribunal, it will be a proper application as it is a crime against humanity.”
He said, “Abu Sayeed's family has come to the tribunal with their own decision. Today, they have submitted a written complaint describing the incidents. We will take appropriate action in light of this complaint. Abu Sayeed's elder brother Ramzan and the students who were present with him during the incident have filed the complaint against 25 people.”
The prosecution team requested three hearings at the tribunal on Monday (January 13). Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam said, "Before presenting any digital information to the court, a certification is required. And this certified authority is our CID. They will verify it and check whether it is correct or fake or whether it is created with Artificial Intelligence (AI). Without verification, this information cannot be submitted to the court. This is in both international and Bangladeshi law. We have received a lot of digital evidence regarding the July-August massacre, including call records and videos. We have applied to the court to send this digital evidence to the CID for forensic check."
