Acting President to hold office at Bangabhaban tomorrow

Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed will hold office at Bangabhaban for the first time on Tuesday (July 28) at 12pm. However, while he will conduct official duties at Bangabhaban, he will continue to reside at the Speaker's official residence.

BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter. He said the Acting President himself had informed that he would hold office at Bangabhaban and reside at the Speaker's official residence.

Earlier, from Friday (July 24) afternoon, special security arrangements had been enforced at the Speaker's official residence in the Parliament complex and surrounding areas as part of the Acting President's security.

On Sunday (July 26), former President Mohammed Shahabuddin left Bangabhaban at 2:25pm for his private residence, Green Villa, in the capital's Gulshan.

Earlier, on Friday, Mohammed Shahabuddin resigned from the presidency citing health reasons. Following this, Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed assumed the duties of the Acting President in accordance with the constitution.
