The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh has imposed a ban on flying drones without prior approval in view of the national election. The restriction will remain in force nationwide from Tuesday, February 10 to February 15. CAAB public relations officer Kawsar Mahmud confirmed the matter to the media. He said only drones operated by defence forces and law enforcement agencies will be allowed during this period. No individual or organisation will be permitted to fly drones without approval. Legal action will be taken against anyone violating the restriction, he added, saying the decision was taken to strengthen election security.

জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনকে কেন্দ্র করে বেসামরিক বিমান চলাচল কর্তৃপক্ষের (বেবিচক) অনুমোদন ছাড়া সব ধরনের ড্রোন উড্ডয়নে নিষেধাজ্ঞা জারি করা হয়েছে। মঙ্গলবার (১০ ফেব্রুয়ারি) থেকে আগামী ১৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি পর্যন্ত সারা দেশে এ নিষেধাজ্ঞা কার্যকর থাকবে। বেবিচকের জনসংযোগ বিভাগের কর্মকর্তা কাওছার মাহমুদ গণমাধ্যমকে বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি জানান, নিষেধাজ্ঞার সময়কালে কেবল প্রতিরক্ষা বাহিনী ও আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীর ড্রোন উড্ডয়নের অনুমতি থাকবে। এ ছাড়া অন্য কোনো ব্যক্তি বা প্রতিষ্ঠানের ড্রোন উড়াতে পারবে না। নিষেধাজ্ঞা অমান্য করলে সংশ্লিষ্টদের বিরুদ্ধে আইনানুগ ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে বলেও জানান তিনি। নির্বাচনকে ঘিরে নিরাপত্তা জোরদার করতেই এ সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে।
