Action taken against 220 college lecturers over fake certificates: Education Minister
Action has been taken against 220 college lecturers over allegations of recruitment using fake and forged certificates, Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan told Parliament on Thursday (April 23).
The minister made the disclosure during the question-and-answer session on the 20th day of the first sitting of the 13th National Parliament, presided over by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram.
Responding to a written query from Pabna-5 MP Md Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, the minister said the measures were based on investigations conducted by the Inspection and Audit Directorate (DIA).
He noted that the DIA report, covering inspections between July and December 2025, found widespread irregularities, including fake certificates used in recruitment across 973 educational institutions.
The minister said that disciplinary action had already been taken against 202 lecturers based on earlier DIA reports from 2014 to 2019. Of them, salaries and allowances of 74 MPO-listed teachers were suspended from July 2023, while disciplinary proceedings were initiated through governing bodies against 128 non-MPO teachers.
He assured Parliament that strict action would continue in future to prevent corruption and malpractice in the education sector.
