Actor Siddique assaulted, taken to Ramna police station
Popular actor Siddiqur Rahman was attacked in the Kakrail area of Dhaka on Tuesday (April 29) around 4:30 pm. A video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking widespread discussion and outrage.
In the video, an angry crowd is seen surrounding Siddique and physically assaulting him. His clothes were torn, and he was injured during the attack.
After the assault, Siddiq was taken to Ramna Police Station. The incident was confirmed by SI Jalal Uddin, the duty officer at the station.
Siddiqur Rahman, originally from Madhupur in Tangail, has been active in acting for over two decades. Alongside acting, he has also been involved in politics. For years, he has sought a nomination from the Awami League to run for office in Dhaka-17 and Tangail-1 constituencies.
He began his acting career on stage with Arambagh Theatre and performed in plays such as Rajar Golpo, Pejgi, and Bolod. He also started working in advertisements and later as an assistant director.
Siddique made his TV drama debut in 2005 with the play Roudro O Rodelar Kabbo by Dipankar Dipon, where he played the role of 'Kawwa Siddiq'. He later became popular through performances in dramas like Kobi Bolechhen, Housefull, Graduate, and Mic.
