Actress Rukaiya Jahan Chamak joins BNP
Popular small-screen actress Rukaiya Jahan Chamak is now venturing into politics. The star, who was active in the July movement, has appeared for an interview as an aspirant for BNP's nomination for the reserved women's seat from Kushtia in the 13th National Parliament.
Members of the BNP nomination board conducted interviews for candidates for reserved women's seats on Friday afternoon. Chamak was seen leaving the interview in high spirits.
Speaking on the matter, she said she wants to work for the country, especially for women, and was looking for a platform to achieve that goal. She believes that joining BNP will create opportunities to implement her plans.
She further said her discussions with the party have been positive and she is optimistic about receiving the nomination.
No official announcement has been made by the BNP on this matter, though a source indicated that the party's attitude towards her candidacy is positive.
In a social media post, Chamak wrote, "Started a new journey, Alhamdulillah. Will share details soon. Stay by my side, keep me in your prayers."
Meanwhile, curiosity about her political future is growing, but a final decision is still awaited.
