The water crisis in the National Parliament area has reached alarming levels, said Nurul Islam Moni, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee and Chief Whip. He said that muddy water has been supplied in the parliament area for the past two to three days, and he himself fell ill after drinking it.

He spoke to journalists after a committee meeting at the National Parliament building on Monday, March 30.

"We have been getting muddy water for several days. I myself have suffered from an upset stomach after drinking this water. I will bring this matter to the government's attention for a quick solution," the Chief Whip said.

He further informed that the parliament area has a daily water demand of approximately 1 crore litres, but current production is only 27 lakh litres. This large deficit is intensifying the crisis.

Regarding housing for members of parliament, he said their residences will be allocated by April 10. While some necessary items have been damaged, they have been repaired. He assured that MPs will be able to move into their residences soon, as security and other matters have been discussed.

The meeting also discussed matters related to the parliament's hospital. The need for an ICU ambulance and a refrigerated hearse van was highlighted.

Meanwhile, the Chief Whip said that the sound system in parliament is still not functioning properly, and efforts are underway to improve it. If necessary, a new sound system will be installed. The investigation committee formed on the matter will submit its report by April 2.
