Adabor theft case: two arrested, 32 vori gold ornaments recovered

Police in a raid arrested two individuals in connection with theft case at  Adabor area in Dhaka.

The suspects were identified as Mahin and Rehan, both are 16 years old, were detained after a raid conducted by the Adabor police on Friday night (January 3).

According to police sources, the incident took place when Babli Sarkar, the owner of the targeted house, returned home on December 30 after a short visit to another location. Upon arrival, he discovered the front door was locked but found it had been tampered with. Entering the house, Sarkar noticed that the cupboard's lock had been broken, and the contents were in disarray. Various gold and silver ornaments were missing from the cupboard.

Sarkar filed a complaint with the Adabor police station on January 3.

In response, the police carried out a raid, arrested the suspects, and recovered stolen items, including 32.3 vori (around 32 kg) of gold ornaments, 10.15 vori of silver ornaments, and Tk 87,000 in cash.

SM Zakaria, officer-in-charge of Adabor Police Station, confirmed the matter.

He said, "Based on the information provided by the plaintiff, a thorough inspection of the scene, and the use of information technology, we initially arrested the suspect Mahin. Following his lead, we were able to apprehend the second suspect, Rehan."

"The operation to capture additional individuals involved in the crime is still underway," he added.
