Ad-Din Hospital seeks 48-hour extension to reply to show-cause notice over six newborn deaths

Ad-Din Hospital authorities have requested an additional 48 hours until June 9 to respond to the health directorate's show-cause notice asking why their licence should not be cancelled over the deaths of six newborns. The hospital wants to submit its reply in person through its lawyer and has already sent a letter to the health directorate.

Professor Dr Probhat Chandra Biswas, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services, confirmed receiving the request for an extension. He said if no reply is received by the stipulated deadline of 5:00 pm Sunday, the DGHS will consult with senior health ministry officials and announce further action within the day.

The health directorate issued the show-cause notice on Thursday, citing violations of medical practice and private clinic and laboratory regulations. The hospital was given 72 hours, until Sunday 5:00 pm, to respond. The notice was displayed at the hospital gate.
