Ad-din Medical College Hospital gets licence back

The government has reinstated the licence of Ad-din Medical College Hospital in Dhaka's Baro Maghbazar, nearly a month and a half after it was cancelled over the deaths of six newborns. The hospital has also been permitted to resume operations on condition.

A notification signed by Health and Family Welfare Ministry Secretary Md Kamruzzaman Chowdhury on Monday (July 27) confirmed the matter.

The notification stated that the hospital authorities had appealed after its licence was cancelled over the deaths of six newborns. Following the appeal, a probe committee was formed, which was directed on July 15 to conduct an on-site inspection and submit a report within three working days. After submitting the report, it was found satisfactory, leading to the withdrawal of the licence cancellation order.

However, several conditions have been imposed on the permission to resume operations.

According to the conditions,The conditions include: complying with the provisions of the Medical Practice and Private Clinics and Laboratories (Regulation) Ordinance, 1982; expediting the appointment of required duty doctors and nurses as per the licence conditions; and, in the event of any future violation of the licence conditions, the government will be able to take necessary legal action through the competent authority.

Additionally, the process of appointing required duty doctors and nurses must be expedited as per the licence conditions. If any condition of the licence is violated in the future, the government will be able to take legal action through the competent authority.
