Adequate funds to be allocated for Family Card project: Finance Minister
Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said the necessary funds for the implementation of the Family Card project will be allocated in the upcoming budget. He was speaking to journalists at the Secretariat on Monday, April 27.
The finance minister said the project is considered a flagship initiative of the BNP, and the government is committed to ensuring its smooth implementation. "The necessary funds will be allocated in the budget for this project, as the government hopes it will ensure women's empowerment in rural areas," he added.
Acknowledging some limitations in the project's management, the minister said minor mistakes have occurred in its implementation. However, he assured that such errors would be reduced to less than one per cent in the future. "We have already identified the problems and taken steps to rectify them. Necessary adjustments will be made to ensure the project is implemented more accurately in the future," he said.
The finance minister said this initiative is not merely a social safety net programme but aims for a far more far-reaching impact. The Family Card project is a humanitarian initiative intended to ensure women's empowerment and deliver services to the doorsteps of rural and marginalised communities. It will also play a positive role in the country's economic development.
He expressed hope that the Family Card project will be successfully implemented through the necessary corrections and adjustments.
